I have a new blog, it's kind of more of a lifestyle blog and will be more about the simple pleasures we take in life.<br />

It's called <a href="http://onetidystudio.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/one-tidy-studio.html" target="_blank">One Tidy Studio</a> and I hope you like it!<br />

<br />
<br />
I am teaching some Introduction to sewing workshops this weekend and to prepare myself I thought I would try out a simple project kit that came with Homemaker magazine (I really love this publication and have subscribed to it from Day one).<br />
<br />
To really test my skills (and patience) I decided my daughter (age 5) was going to be my guinea pig! She got on surprisingly well, considering she had never used an iron or a sewing machine before, here's how it went...<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Very excited to be using the iron (it was set really low)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GuywoIFk_ZQ/U1ek5pSsuEI/AAAAAAAAB5s/EiFfN65ECt4/s1600/IMG_6636.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GuywoIFk_ZQ/U1ek5pSsuEI/AAAAAAAAB5s/EiFfN65ECt4/s1600/IMG_6636.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The look of concentration on her face was priceless!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PGCxhzSbm-A/U1elBnfwBUI/AAAAAAAAB50/C5sH4UevKpQ/s1600/IMG_6640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PGCxhzSbm-A/U1elBnfwBUI/AAAAAAAAB50/C5sH4UevKpQ/s1600/IMG_6640.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Owv3VKfaz8s/U1ek2qaAtrI/AAAAAAAAB5k/Xn9oh9XaUY8/s1600/IMG_6646.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Owv3VKfaz8s/U1ek2qaAtrI/AAAAAAAAB5k/Xn9oh9XaUY8/s1600/IMG_6646.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I powered the foot pedal and Eva fed through the fabric!! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zXUB8gygECg/U1epClMUH4I/AAAAAAAAB7A/UrYe809YGDw/s1600/IMG_6650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zXUB8gygECg/U1epClMUH4I/AAAAAAAAB7A/UrYe809YGDw/s1600/IMG_6650.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0AsIWWLMJgE/U1epI-m-OlI/AAAAAAAAB7I/wRt_zF0cDaA/s1600/IMG_6657.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0AsIWWLMJgE/U1epI-m-OlI/AAAAAAAAB7I/wRt_zF0cDaA/s1600/IMG_6657.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Ta da!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C9mqtdWX3gQ/U1elIjdNz9I/AAAAAAAAB58/X-YYP961E_w/s1600/IMG_6660.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C9mqtdWX3gQ/U1elIjdNz9I/AAAAAAAAB58/X-YYP961E_w/s1600/IMG_6660.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DiJneZlRtY0/U1elPGgwx8I/AAAAAAAAB6E/Gn_04gBqvcA/s1600/IMG_6662.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DiJneZlRtY0/U1elPGgwx8I/AAAAAAAAB6E/Gn_04gBqvcA/s1600/IMG_6662.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Then the fun bit.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WCSD7M_tOEY/U1elWXahvJI/AAAAAAAAB6M/Gb6V347gw-Y/s1600/IMG_6665.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WCSD7M_tOEY/U1elWXahvJI/AAAAAAAAB6M/Gb6V347gw-Y/s1600/IMG_6665.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ElcQGKc3td4/U1eleH3DVtI/AAAAAAAAB6U/rMiEduE3xpM/s1600/IMG_6667.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ElcQGKc3td4/U1eleH3DVtI/AAAAAAAAB6U/rMiEduE3xpM/s1600/IMG_6667.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The finished item and some silly faces!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b4C62mzoZ9Q/U1elmTAy9BI/AAAAAAAAB6c/wcQf7J2s_NU/s1600/IMG_6677.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b4C62mzoZ9Q/U1elmTAy9BI/AAAAAAAAB6c/wcQf7J2s_NU/s1600/IMG_6677.JPG" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Eva was really pleased with her cushion and said she will keep it forever and might even give it to her children!<br />
<br />
I have a couple of places left on my workshops this weekend, we won't be making cushions, but we will be learning how to use a sewing machine and making chicken doorstops!! Here are the details, if you would like to book a place then message me...<br />

<br />
Yes I know it's late (a whole month in fact) but there's lots going on behind the scenes here.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rOeN6_CQAT0/Uu9zERU89FI/AAAAAAAAB5M/Jpe4BjSKUlQ/s1600/thegiftbox.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rOeN6_CQAT0/Uu9zERU89FI/AAAAAAAAB5M/Jpe4BjSKUlQ/s1600/thegiftbox.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
First and foremost I am pleased to announce that I have been invited to teach some workshops by the lovely <a href="http://www.courtyardgiftbox.co.uk/" target="_blank">Courtyard Gift Box</a>. They have a lovely shop stocked with gorgeous handmade products (including some evajeanie) and a converted stable for workshops. There is also a new pantry opening this month.<br />
<br />
The first workshops I'll be offering are an Introduction to hand pieced patchwork.<span class="userContent"> The stable is set in the most beautiful rural
location just outside Kettering, Northants!
Oh and did I mention there is homemade tea and cake included?! <a href="mailto:lindsay@evajeanie.com" target="_blank">Message me</a> or leave a comment for
further information.</span><br />

The badges and the mirrors have proven to be a really popular way of getting my designs out there.<br />
<br />
September was a really busy month for me as Eva started school. I haven't quite adjusted to this, I still feel really sad about dropping her off but am enjoying have regular working hours, I still work just about every night but somehow it's feeling slightly less manic. I'm so glad I have got new design projects to occupy my time. <br />
<br />
I have added some new Halloween themed badges and mirrors to my range:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IcwsEQ2fSiI/UlKaD9DD2SI/AAAAAAAAB3Y/01Pq01eavRU/s1600/spooky-bags2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IcwsEQ2fSiI/UlKaD9DD2SI/AAAAAAAAB3Y/01Pq01eavRU/s400/spooky-bags2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
'Spooky' green eyes badges great for Halloween children's party bags as an alternative to sweets! Perfect for trick or treat gifts! <br />

Badges and mirrors are sold individually or in mixed packs of 5 and 10 or as mixed bags of badges and pocket mirrors, and are the perfect alternative to sweets for trick or treating or for giving out as little gifts in Halloween party bags!<br />
<br />
Children will love these cute and quirky Halloween badges, but they are not toys so please don't give them to children under 5 years old due to small parts and pin fastening. I offer a plastic clip back fastener which is safe for children over 3 years. Contact me if you would like these.<br />

Also a giveaway of first new products!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N3oScxQa79w/UjMUlmj8SrI/AAAAAAAAB2s/-6sz-Gjkc1s/s1600/HEDHEHOG.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="497" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N3oScxQa79w/UjMUlmj8SrI/AAAAAAAAB2s/-6sz-Gjkc1s/s640/HEDHEHOG.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
I was so excited about typing 'Exciting News' that I accidentally typed 'Exiting News' which wouldn't be right at all, quite the opposite in fact! I'm pleased to announce that evajeanie are expanding our product range.<br />
<br />
We have invested in a new fancy piece of machinery which will help business grow and take a slightly new direction. Don't worry all the lovely bunting and bags will still be available but we really want to incorporate more graphics and illustration work into the brand. There's been a lot going on behind the scenes over the Summer and are we almost ready to launch a new range of designs and products.<br />
<br />
The new machinery will allow us to show of our new designs on beautiful little pocket mirrors, badges and clips (for children), keyrings and bottle openers and here it is...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AIxZtPg_MmQ/UjMQjVBswxI/AAAAAAAAB14/BQ3TosghrFk/s1600/IMG_5604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AIxZtPg_MmQ/UjMQjVBswxI/AAAAAAAAB14/BQ3TosghrFk/s320/IMG_5604.JPG" width="310" /></a></div>
<br />
it's a proper heavy duty piece of machinery with a super smooth circular cutter. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QNTNfh_GvNY/UjMQqFYH-8I/AAAAAAAAB2I/G7SNeAyXnqk/s1600/IMG_5605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QNTNfh_GvNY/UjMQqFYH-8I/AAAAAAAAB2I/G7SNeAyXnqk/s320/IMG_5605.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the cutter... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-amocDRQl484/UjMQpuWybtI/AAAAAAAAB2A/5cLW_dWKWtg/s1600/IMG_5608.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-amocDRQl484/UjMQpuWybtI/AAAAAAAAB2A/5cLW_dWKWtg/s320/IMG_5608.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I love things with handles and levers, I am quite cheered by the bright red knob on the end of this handle! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-frGYP-8eaXw/UjMQpxEMejI/AAAAAAAAB2E/Apih-cdaQ3Y/s1600/IMG_5611.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-frGYP-8eaXw/UjMQpxEMejI/AAAAAAAAB2E/Apih-cdaQ3Y/s320/IMG_5611.JPG" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
The assembler itself has got all sorts of springs and slidy things, is it wrong that I'm excited about a chunky bit of metal?<br />
<br />
It have a lovely action, obviously sophisticated engineering, that is robust and built to last! Yes it is made in Britain, just down the road in Stamford!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P48kxJg_O0g/UjMQuCwyRBI/AAAAAAAAB2Y/-oxbzclV7F8/s1600/IMG_5613.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P48kxJg_O0g/UjMQuCwyRBI/AAAAAAAAB2Y/-oxbzclV7F8/s320/IMG_5613.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We only received the machine yesterday but we were keen to get cracking and share some of our new designs so have already made a few products (I was so excited and have been planning this for months).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y8klaaO2mes/UjMU0yjmN9I/AAAAAAAAB20/ve36tUeqjec/s1600/IMG_5614.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y8klaaO2mes/UjMU0yjmN9I/AAAAAAAAB20/ve36tUeqjec/s400/IMG_5614.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
These are the first two products, they are part of the new 'Wild' range, of which there will be available on notebooks, cards, bags and cushions, as well as mirrors and keyrings.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7_iXKy-L1I0/UjMV5g57G7I/AAAAAAAAB3I/MMQnsLHMy3g/s1600/IMG_5619.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7_iXKy-L1I0/UjMV5g57G7I/AAAAAAAAB3I/MMQnsLHMy3g/s320/IMG_5619.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The hedgehog is based on our own hand illustrations that we have redrawn on the mac for production.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wGvZyTv2CI0/UjMVq8JccBI/AAAAAAAAB3A/T3bGWGol_TY/s1600/IMG_5617.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wGvZyTv2CI0/UjMVq8JccBI/AAAAAAAAB3A/T3bGWGol_TY/s400/IMG_5617.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />

It was in actual fact a magazine (a pretty good one as it goes), the lovely people at Sewing World magazine had asked me to review their new look publication! How nice are they?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EL6oEhIn6iM/UfJPmaesHiI/AAAAAAAABzc/eNHBTFu-fCU/s1600/IMG_5526.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EL6oEhIn6iM/UfJPmaesHiI/AAAAAAAABzc/eNHBTFu-fCU/s640/IMG_5526.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now as I'm sure you'll have noticed it has been a very busy time here at evajeanie, what with the world and their Granny ordering bunting and my little Eva finishing playschool (it was emotional to say the least) there has been very little time to sit down and give this job the time it deserved.<br />
<br />
But this morning, in between bunting orders and shipping Eva off to the
Library with Ninny (that's my Mum - I know, it just stuck and it is
quite fitting, we all call her Ninny now), I managed to carve some time
for a bit of R&R. A sweet brew, a Kit Kat and a wonderful new
magazine, what could be better?! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iqA7GhAjPtg/UfJPoiRZhDI/AAAAAAAABzo/KrZQ2vHvoB8/s1600/IMG_5527.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iqA7GhAjPtg/UfJPoiRZhDI/AAAAAAAABzo/KrZQ2vHvoB8/s640/IMG_5527.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The first thing that struck me was how vibrant and enticing the articles looked just from the previews on the contents page, also the volume of projects impressed, it's literally chock full of lovely things to stitch - thirteen in fact! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QKIuzKM8Ato/UfJPrYqrBfI/AAAAAAAABzw/VBUiGeWSGhg/s1600/IMG_5528.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QKIuzKM8Ato/UfJPrYqrBfI/AAAAAAAABzw/VBUiGeWSGhg/s640/IMG_5528.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I always love a shopping page and this one doesn't disappoint, it features this natty little Button Sewing Box, I am a button fan, especially if it that helps me keep my sewing stash under control, I am definitely going to invest in one of these for the studio. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lMOA55V7NGU/UfJPtHChBfI/AAAAAAAABz4/-aahFEVDGC0/s1600/IMG_5529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lMOA55V7NGU/UfJPtHChBfI/AAAAAAAABz4/-aahFEVDGC0/s400/IMG_5529.JPG" width="370" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then we get down to the serious business of sewing. Specifically Using a Multi-Size Pattern, gulp! Now I like to think I am well-qualified in the art of stitchery, along with a BA (hons) I also have a variety of C&G certificates in my bottom drawer, but the thought of using a pattern is still a little disquieting. No idea why, I just prefer to you my own patterns and tend to make smaller things. But it's okay, you can come back out from behind the sofa, there's nothing to be frightened of, it's going to be okay, Sewing World have got it covered, I promise!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uYmWtiforp8/UfJP22Fy_pI/AAAAAAAAB0I/M7XdaQtiiyE/s1600/IMG_5530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uYmWtiforp8/UfJP22Fy_pI/AAAAAAAAB0I/M7XdaQtiiyE/s640/IMG_5530.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This (not tricky or in the least bit scarey) section is exactly what the tags on the top of the page claim it to be - a Masterclass! It explains what a pattern is, why you need one and ultimately how to use one. Genius! Even I can follow this guide (and believe me I was reluctant to try) but it really is effortless. It is simply written and fully explains instructions so you will feel armed to go forth and tackle that dress pattern you have lurking in your sewing box (I'm talking to myself here too!) It would also be a handy guide to cut out and keep.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--wWuwh3UVno/UfJP0DgEKgI/AAAAAAAABz8/qJonaGzKols/s1600/IMG_5531.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--wWuwh3UVno/UfJP0DgEKgI/AAAAAAAABz8/qJonaGzKols/s640/IMG_5531.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The next section 'Projects' is definitely more my comfort zone. There is a gorgeous preview page for July Makes which makes you want to just jump straight in! Be it a funky tote bag, a handy sewing machine cover or the super-cute Pippi doll, there's something for everyone!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k3Qap5Sxiac/UfJQABcf7pI/AAAAAAAAB0Q/uHzeUbMdObA/s1600/IMG_5533.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k3Qap5Sxiac/UfJQABcf7pI/AAAAAAAAB0Q/uHzeUbMdObA/s640/IMG_5533.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I particularly liked the Pippi Doll, inspired by the Scandinavian elf dolls, you may have seen them as advent calendars. The pockets on the front store small trinkets or sweets and I am tempted to make one with Eva as our summer project. It will be a lovely way to use up some of the pink/lilac scraps that I have been hoarding as they are too nice to throw away. I also thought it might be nice to add in some fabrics from some of her lovely baby dresses so that it will make a lovely memorable keepsake.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qm-Eo60AnIM/UfJQSpsPqyI/AAAAAAAAB0o/Nh-Imsfakls/s1600/IMG_5535.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qm-Eo60AnIM/UfJQSpsPqyI/AAAAAAAAB0o/Nh-Imsfakls/s640/IMG_5535.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The instructions look clear, fun and above all easy to follow! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--YtvqBu0gpU/UfJQSpUZwSI/AAAAAAAAB0k/gKmCBXUGt6k/s1600/IMG_5536.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--YtvqBu0gpU/UfJQSpUZwSI/AAAAAAAAB0k/gKmCBXUGt6k/s640/IMG_5536.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Another gorgeous project is this flirty floral top, the instructions are once again straightforward and beautifully laid out. You know, I'm tempted to have a go at this one too!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nYf73NNRv5k/UfJQhdpviyI/AAAAAAAAB00/pwjG-nY5hWE/s1600/IMG_5537.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nYf73NNRv5k/UfJQhdpviyI/AAAAAAAAB00/pwjG-nY5hWE/s640/IMG_5537.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There is a special patchwork ruffle skirt, perfect for a little girl and yes I do have one in mind! The fabrics and colourways used for this project are especially inspiring. There is also a delightful matching headband to make.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yihgXSy0ocU/UfJQp7PIdhI/AAAAAAAAB1E/ULX-anuo3sw/s1600/IMG_5538.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yihgXSy0ocU/UfJQp7PIdhI/AAAAAAAAB1E/ULX-anuo3sw/s640/IMG_5538.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The features section is also most intriguing, the first section is written by Editor Julie Briggs and is dedicated to M Makower & Co Ltd as 2012 saw the 150 anniversary of their beautiful fashion fabrics. A most absorbing read.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QqHtbd8IimI/UfJQot9Q9NI/AAAAAAAAB08/h5RroeDxPtE/s1600/IMG_5539.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QqHtbd8IimI/UfJQot9Q9NI/AAAAAAAAB08/h5RroeDxPtE/s640/IMG_5539.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
An example of one of the easy to follow patterns: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tgwzH6t7_TM/UfJQwuxSfSI/AAAAAAAAB1M/6hV7aGPs5aM/s1600/IMG_5540.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tgwzH6t7_TM/UfJQwuxSfSI/AAAAAAAAB1M/6hV7aGPs5aM/s640/IMG_5540.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
An enlightening feature of Choosing a Sewing Machine, this focuses on mid-range models and allows you to compare price and features on the USP of each machine, a real must read if you are thinking of investing or just want to find out what you are missing out on!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3JVPWWgAG7o/UfJQ9nAndQI/AAAAAAAAB1U/MHAQU1AXFhs/s1600/IMG_5541.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3JVPWWgAG7o/UfJQ9nAndQI/AAAAAAAAB1U/MHAQU1AXFhs/s640/IMG_5541.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There is also a feature on 'Men Who Sew' apparently there are some that do, although they are in short supply at evajeanie HQ, I must address this sharply! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--WQdc-P0ZFU/UfJRBZhJhaI/AAAAAAAAB1k/q_h16YQVn6o/s1600/IMG_5543.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--WQdc-P0ZFU/UfJRBZhJhaI/AAAAAAAAB1k/q_h16YQVn6o/s640/IMG_5543.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
There are far more appealing articles and delightful projects than I can't squeeze into this blog post. But I strongly hope that I have encouraged you to try out a magazine that might be considered to be focused on the more 'serious' side of sewing, don't be afraid, embrace it, it can be fun and Sewing Magazine certainly demonstrates that at it's very best!<br />
<br />
Big Thumbs up from evajeanie!!!<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dReafyLRPuw/UdwNbWpkf3I/AAAAAAAABy0/SXGapzz5mUU/s1600/IMG_5472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dReafyLRPuw/UdwNbWpkf3I/AAAAAAAABy0/SXGapzz5mUU/s640/IMG_5472.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I was asked last week to make some special Baby Shower bunting, with bees on. 'I don't do bee's' is what my brain said, 'yes of course' is what I typed. The Mummy-to-be wanted it as a decoration for her baby shower this weekend and I wasn't going to disappoint.<br />
<br />
We agreed upon colour schemes and fabrics via text using picture messaging as it is so fast, the brief was to keep things neutral (but not too neutral), once we had some fabrics chosen we were both happy with I set to work straight away. The wording for the bunting is 'What will it Bee" with a bee flag in between each word. So this was a longer run of flags than usual, but I do like a challenge.<br />
<br />
The bunting is all ready to be posted today, here's how it looks (you will see some of the lovely Riley Blake fabric featured that is available through my <a href="http://evajeanie.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/giveaway-time.html" target="_blank">giveaway here</a>).<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nWG_k9bLWuo/Ub8nETQBdnI/AAAAAAAABxA/Myu-ypPJjQw/s1600/IMG_5302.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nWG_k9bLWuo/Ub8nETQBdnI/AAAAAAAABxA/Myu-ypPJjQw/s400/IMG_5302.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
After the mad rush on <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/124783216/little-red-riding-hood-personalised?ref=shop_home_active" target="_blank">personalised glasses cases</a> for Fathers Day last week, this week is mostly going to be about catching up on the new influx of bunting orders. It must be Christening season as I have noticed a huge increase in sales over recent weeks for this handmade free-machined, appliquéd bunting.<br />
<br />
I do sell a lot of this type of bunting throughout the year but it's mostly the designs for girls (like my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/evajeanie?ref=si_shop" target="_blank">cupcakes</a> or <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/evajeanie?ref=si_shop" target="_blank">butterfly</a> flags), this week however all of the orders in my book are for Personalised Boys Sail Boat bunting in blues and greens, it's really lovely working in a different colour scheme for a change! As much as I love pink and green (and I really do love it) there's nothing like a change up to freshen your eyes and your mood.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-o-dlFRzjQTo/Ub8oVNnpL1I/AAAAAAAABxY/kEYdEWiQC94/s1600/IMG_5330.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-o-dlFRzjQTo/Ub8oVNnpL1I/AAAAAAAABxY/kEYdEWiQC94/s400/IMG_5330.JPG" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
This gorgeous wave print is the first print I have used from my new fabric stash arrival, it's a 100% certified organic cotton fabric called 'Seven Seas' from Michéle Brummer-Everett at 9 fabrics and I am in love with it, I also have it in red and pink (yes I know! I said I loved it).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I also made some <a href="http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/evajeanie/product/boy-s-personalised-sail-boat-bunting" target="_blank">Baby Boy Sail Boat Bunting </a>in baby blues and creams.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2ctui7vo2nk/Ub2Wz0olliI/AAAAAAAABwA/6m8R6DbQu1g/s1600/6a00d8358081ff69e20191027eb700970c-800wi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2ctui7vo2nk/Ub2Wz0olliI/AAAAAAAABwA/6m8R6DbQu1g/s320/6a00d8358081ff69e20191027eb700970c-800wi.jpg" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I have finally got a new phone. I have been itching to try out the new <a href="http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2013/05/a-beautiful-mess-app-faq-.html" target="_blank">A Beautiful Mess</a> app for some time but my old brick just wouldn't manage it, well it would but it wouldn't have been the smooth enjoyable experience I was aching for. As soon as my new phone was in my mits I made sure it was the first new app I treated myself to and all I can say is I am totally addicted, it's really easy to use and adds bags of personality to your photographs!<br />
<br />
You can add your own text, little doddles and borders, change the colours. I have only tried it out on a few snaps and I'm so impressed, although I can see one flaw, it's going to be very addictive so be warned!!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://instagram.com/evajeanie" target="_blank">You can follow me on instagram here</a><br />
<br />
<br />
Here's some pics I've taken and jazzed up so far...<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #e06666;">1. </span></span>I spent a couple of hours yesterday tidying my studio and added on of my old Craft Fair crates to house my magazines and recent fabric stash purchase (this deserves it's own post so will expand upon this at a later date). I'm loving my new 'tidy' corner I can't work in clutter it drives me crazy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2U4zsDs6_xk/Ub2aILPbZiI/AAAAAAAABwQ/7PSKVsVOe90/s1600/Screen+shot+2013-06-16+at+11.56.12.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2U4zsDs6_xk/Ub2aILPbZiI/AAAAAAAABwQ/7PSKVsVOe90/s400/Screen+shot+2013-06-16+at+11.56.12.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #e06666;">2. </span></span>Last weekend we went to Cromer, this is a picture of Eva on the old Diesel train which runs from Sheringham to Holt, it's a beautiful journey and all the old stations have been restored so are as they would have been, I'm not much into trains but even I could appreciate it. Holt was a beautiful little town with lots of little antique and individual quirky shops, although I wouldn't recommend going on a Sunday as most of it was closed!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HiyvYXmumok/Ub2bgY84TlI/AAAAAAAABwg/B4c5ThGSLvM/s1600/Screen+shot+2013-06-16+at+11.55.49.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HiyvYXmumok/Ub2bgY84TlI/AAAAAAAABwg/B4c5ThGSLvM/s400/Screen+shot+2013-06-16+at+11.55.49.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="color: #e06666;">3. </span></span>This morning on my balcony my little marigolds have started to bloom, I have planted them in an old cast casserole pot that I picked up from Wicksteed Park car boot sale last Summer for 50p, I was going to use it for cooking but I think this is a much better use for it.<br />
<br />

This week Eva has been poorly so the week has taken a different path. So here's some pics to show you what's been going on.<br />
<br />

I love these pansies on my balcony, their little faces always make me think of my late Granny Jeanie. <br />

Enjoy the sunshine, while it lasts!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03020001878922551760noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7618981678850872569.post-67376847803645590322013-04-22T10:16:00.000+01:002013-04-22T10:16:56.863+01:00Onwards and upwardsDoes anyone know why all the bad things seem to happen at once? Last week was a total nightmare and I sincerely hope this week will be better. I don't see how it could be worse.<br />
<br />
I got myself very stressed about work and I don't think I realised how much Eva's school offer was affecting me. Incidentally she did get offered a place at our first choice but we were lucky, I know lots of Mums who were very disappointed to not get any of their three choices. It seems such an unfair system and even though we did get the school we were hoping for I can't help but pick up on other people's stress and upset. Not good.<br />
<br />
Amongst all this I have been trying to get some new products made, photographed and uploaded as well as tackle the huge number of bunting orders. I did have to bury my head in the sand a little towards the end of last week, but after a very relaxing weekend which involved a night at the theatre to see Derren Brown (who was awesome) and a lovely picnic in the park yesterday I feel more with it and motivated today I'm pleased to say.<br />
<br />
I did manage to get one new product uploaded, it's a <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/129831977/i-love-my-dad-retro-fathers-day-card" target="_blank">Father's Day card with a Jammy Dodger on it.</a> Available in two colour schemes, biscuit beige and sea green.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/129831977/i-love-my-dad-retro-fathers-day-card" target="_blank"><span id="goog_704191108"></span><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ccq_7y6_nDQ/UXT9IVLcg7I/AAAAAAAABtE/0ZSTIb7LtYI/s400/jammy2.jpg" width="400" /></a><span id="goog_704191103"><span id="goog_704191109"></span></span><span id="goog_704191104"></span></div>
<br />
<br />
A quirky, original biscuit card, a brilliant way to tell Dad how much you love him this Fathers Day.<br />

I am lucky enough to be featured on page 23. It is a lovely magazine with a great free gift of all the bits you need to make your very own needle case. Not easy to find in the shops though, I had to wait for stock and order my copy from <a href="http://www.newsstand.co.uk/" target="_blank">Newstand</a>. But was delighted when it finally did arrive!<br />
<br />
Have a great week folks!<br />

I have had a very busy Easter and even though I had a little bit of childcare I totally underestimated how much time I would need to be making up orders. It's usually a fairly quiet time, but not so this year. I am obviously delighted to be so busy but unfortunately the blog has had to go on hold for a couple of weeks. Sorry about that, but I am back now!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-grn4AJyHjrQ/UWwx-3dfzSI/AAAAAAAABsE/4F-yqVsajso/s1600/IMG_5046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-grn4AJyHjrQ/UWwx-3dfzSI/AAAAAAAABsE/4F-yqVsajso/s400/IMG_5046.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I am filling up my etsy shop and the newest additions are my Little Red Riding Hood glasses cases. The case can also be personalised using a freehand machine embroidery
technique. The handwritten style that this technique produces makes each
case individual.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5AG13Xt_P_s/UWwyWxC73eI/AAAAAAAABsM/qUuSkQUC0Mw/s1600/IMG_5067.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5AG13Xt_P_s/UWwyWxC73eI/AAAAAAAABsM/qUuSkQUC0Mw/s400/IMG_5067.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The cases are printed by hand using scarlet red acrylic printing ink.
Each design is hand illustrated and then screen printed in our
Northamptonshire studio.
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v_KB89jF4D4/UWwyrdN74kI/AAAAAAAABsU/U45hFMe27DU/s1600/IMG_5075.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v_KB89jF4D4/UWwyrdN74kI/AAAAAAAABsU/U45hFMe27DU/s400/IMG_5075.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Each glasses case is fully lined in red cotton fabric with soft batting
to keep your glasses snug, there is a matching red elastic strap and a
vintage button to hold your glasses in place.<br />

<span style="color: #990000;"><br /></span></h2>
<h2>
<span style="color: #990000;">Exciting Post!!!</span></h2>
I love getting post, especially when it's not just boring statements and invoices, I have had two really cool things arrive in the past couple of days.<br />
<br />
The first was something I ordered from etsy US, it is a pattern for a dress, top and trousers. I have been thinking about making some clothes for a while but have completely bitten the Great British Sewing Bee bug and decided I need to buy myself a pattern pronto! The one I chose looks fairly simple and is made by Simplicity. I had a bash at making some clothes while I was at Uni but think I chose the wrong fabrics as I did look like a bit armchairesque in one dress I remember! So watch this space, I will definitely do a blog post when I have something the show for it! I don't want to make things too tricky but I'm thinking about screen printing the pockets....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9Ri2PCGGRIE/UWw1vNQFqvI/AAAAAAAABso/s79s8feNEdU/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9Ri2PCGGRIE/UWw1vNQFqvI/AAAAAAAABso/s79s8feNEdU/s400/photo-1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The other exciting package was from Amazon and is a book that I have wanted for ages.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NCXhrtu-6ZI/UWw2d_XzyUI/AAAAAAAABs0/vTHDQMUYrNQ/s1600/photo-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NCXhrtu-6ZI/UWw2d_XzyUI/AAAAAAAABs0/vTHDQMUYrNQ/s400/photo-3.JPG" width="318" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is called 'I just like to make things' by Lilia Rogers. It is a beautiful spiral bound book, the tag line to the book says 'Learn the secrets to making money while staying passionate about your art and craft'. I don't want to spoil it as I will do a whole blog post on it soon, but I can see just from flicking through the pages that it's just what I need in my life right now, I hope the content is as inspiring as the artwork! I'll be sure to let you know.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One last thing I need to tell you. Tonight is the night (at midnight) when parents of preschool age children in our County can log on to a website to find out which School their child has been allocated. Now if you are not the parent of a pre-school age child, this probably means very little to you but for us Mum's and Dad's of little 4 year olds it's a bit of a curious time. On the one hand I don't want Eva to go to school as I want to keep her here at home with me forever, but as that's not an option I have to hope (along with all the parents) that we have been allocated one of our three choices. I have had nightmares that I receive a letter offering us a place at a School, but the school named is not legible. I really didn't think I was worried but I am now and will definitely be logging in at midnight if only to assist with crashing the website! </div>
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03020001878922551760noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7618981678850872569.post-6467874192100255822013-03-27T09:56:00.000+00:002013-03-27T09:57:31.971+00:00Bonnets on for Easter!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6nLEHZiZO0k/UVK-k6vHOwI/AAAAAAAABq4/ZO1AjBG6hUo/s1600/Photo+on+2013-03-25+at+16.52+%232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6nLEHZiZO0k/UVK-k6vHOwI/AAAAAAAABq4/ZO1AjBG6hUo/s1600/Photo+on+2013-03-25+at+16.52+%232.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
Eva's playschool requested that today she attended wearing an Easter Bonnet, preferably one that I have helped her to make. So here's what we did:<br />
<br />
<br />
First we dug out from the bottom of the dressing up box her old straw hat...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G_Q3soMVKKc/UVK-o2tj7OI/AAAAAAAABrU/hwxeFh6pc5g/s1600/photo-3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G_Q3soMVKKc/UVK-o2tj7OI/AAAAAAAABrU/hwxeFh6pc5g/s320/photo-3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
and had fund painting some coloured pieces of card.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ni2IapUnakY/UVK-lW-rEFI/AAAAAAAABrE/PKRoPK9E8nI/s1600/photo-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ni2IapUnakY/UVK-lW-rEFI/AAAAAAAABrE/PKRoPK9E8nI/s320/photo-1.JPG" width="320" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DRtygQOFlKg/UVK-n2OXzjI/AAAAAAAABrM/Lq3tXiXdo1g/s1600/photo-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DRtygQOFlKg/UVK-n2OXzjI/AAAAAAAABrM/Lq3tXiXdo1g/s320/photo-2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then I cut some cream felt and pink fabric for some ears, I also added a layer of pelmet vilene sandwiched in the middle to add some structure to the ears. I stitched around the pink layer with two layers of running stitch.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5_gcxdXAd8/UVK-ueC4wGI/AAAAAAAABrc/BeiwiwBwayI/s1600/photo-4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5_gcxdXAd8/UVK-ueC4wGI/AAAAAAAABrc/BeiwiwBwayI/s320/photo-4.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Eva then cut out the eggs and chicks from the painted papers and added detail (her word - from Mr Maker apparently) with a fine liner pen and I stitched some yellow strips of paper around the brim for the nest and stuck on the decorations. I stitched the ears on with the sewing machine. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sIdepvjVFQY/UVK-yakNZoI/AAAAAAAABrs/mBOLi99luso/s1600/photo-5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sIdepvjVFQY/UVK-yakNZoI/AAAAAAAABrs/mBOLi99luso/s640/photo-5.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Last night once we had attached the under chin elastic, she was very excited! Throwing out my favoured theory of less is more I also stuck on some decorated eggs that Eva made at playschool and some small furry chicks, after she went to bed. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ix_pxNiDnyA/UVK-xrsjTzI/AAAAAAAABrk/BwObpTzcZVE/s1600/photo-6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ix_pxNiDnyA/UVK-xrsjTzI/AAAAAAAABrk/BwObpTzcZVE/s640/photo-6.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
However in the light of day, is this the saddest girl ever to wear an Easter Bonnet?! I am sure she'll cheer up when she finds her chocolate eggs. Happy Easter!!<br />
<br />

I am ever conscious that I want to hand make a proportion of my work so with that in mind I went to Leicester last week to expose a brand new screen to set about doing some screen prints for Mothers Day cards and matching wrapping paper.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately my new screen is massive, it's not actually, it's A1 in size but as I am bearly 5ft with short arms to match the short legs, the purchase of this new screen may be a bit of a school boy error.<br />
<br />
I was trying to be frugal as I can obviously squeeze more designs and products on to a larger screen but it only just fits on to my base board, think I may also need a new dining room table to work on. I should have realised the problem when I struggled to fit it into the car. Well I'd better get used to it I suppose as I'm stuck with it now!<br />
<br />
Here is me working through some prints for new Mother's Day products.<br />
<br />

<br />
Yesterday when I heard the reassuring thud of post landing on the doormat I was more excited than usual. I knew from facebook that I was due to receive my regular copy of the beautiful <a href="http://homemakermagazine.co.uk/magazine/" target="_blank">Homemaker</a> magazine and doubly exciting, this month my handmade vintage fabric buttons were going to be featured in the Vintage Haberdashery section.<br />
<br />
So I tore off the plastic coat and flicked through the magazine to hurriedly find my items, I didn't find them straight away and had a little moment where I thought maybe they had reconsidered and withdrawn them from the feature :( Luckily they were there and I did find them (on page 61) and here they are...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EIBG0leH9bc/URo1JtDiIpI/AAAAAAAABmo/mIi1szGgkcU/s1600/IMG_4962.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="512" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EIBG0leH9bc/URo1JtDiIpI/AAAAAAAABmo/mIi1szGgkcU/s640/IMG_4962.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AM2Xg2a0jXM/URo1MLbXqUI/AAAAAAAABmw/7KEKdMYYqkQ/s1600/IMG_4961.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AM2Xg2a0jXM/URo1MLbXqUI/AAAAAAAABmw/7KEKdMYYqkQ/s640/IMG_4961.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<a href="http://homemakermagazine.co.uk/magazine/" target="_blank">Homemaker</a> is a new magazine, but I had to subscribe to it as soon as I saw the first edition. It is beautifully designed and it packed with design and craft inspiration and ideas, there is also a sizable dose of knitting and baking. It really covers everything you would ever need for the perfect homemade home.<br />
<br />
My buttons can be purchased from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/evajeanie?ref=search_shop_redirect" target="_blank">my etsy shop.</a>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03020001878922551760noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7618981678850872569.post-37608639519109518692013-02-04T10:14:00.000+00:002013-02-04T10:18:34.247+00:00New Card Range<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pbP7L_4SDhs/UQ-GBMt9mFI/AAAAAAAABjY/uvjsE1own50/s1600/eva.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pbP7L_4SDhs/UQ-GBMt9mFI/AAAAAAAABjY/uvjsE1own50/s320/eva.jpg.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I have so much I want to share at the moment, I have been out of action for the last week or so, firstly due to the snow as I had limited childcare and secondly because Eva was so poorly all week last week with a very nasty sickness bug, I took the week off to care for her, one of the massive perks of being self employed is that even though it's a bit of a juggle I know I can be there for my family at a moments notice. So reassuring, I don't think I could manage any other way now.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Happy Birthday Eva!!!</b><br />
Eva is four years old today, I cannot believe it, it has totally flown by. That's not to say the trauma's of childbirth aren't still fresh in my mind (hence only one child)!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I just have time to share with you the cards in my new range of products, I have re-opened my etsy shop and they are flying off the shelves. One was even featured in the etsyuk email yesterday, I was so excited to see it! It's quite a small pic but it's on the bottom left.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
So here they are... my biscuit and sweet themed cards, inspired by childhood nostalgia, a super yummy selection of illustrated cards for Valentine's Day, Anniversaries, Birthdays or just a special card to cheer someone up. <br />
<br />
The cards are all available as personalised and non-personalised. There is still enough time to order a personalised card for Valentine's Day, if you are quick!<br />

<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HgJTL_EFz3g/UPaJRguMS_I/AAAAAAAABb4/dbk6cnh_OiU/s1600/top-drawer-london.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HgJTL_EFz3g/UPaJRguMS_I/AAAAAAAABb4/dbk6cnh_OiU/s1600/top-drawer-london.png" /></a>Yesterday I had a rare but deserved day out. Part of my plan for 2013 is to do a trade show but decided it might be a good idea to visit a trade show to see what it's all about.<br />
<br />
I grabbed a couple of my crafty friends and off we went to Earls Court in London to Top Drawer, their tag line claims they are 'The UK's leading event for design-led gifts, lifestyle & fashion accessories.' Perfect!<br />
<br />
As you can see from the first photograph, I don't get out a lot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zAb_arsstXk/UPaF5Tcv32I/AAAAAAAABbI/_c0bkU5-ol8/s1600/me.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zAb_arsstXk/UPaF5Tcv32I/AAAAAAAABbI/_c0bkU5-ol8/s400/me.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
If I am going to embark upon the world of tradeshow there were some things I wanted to know first. For instance how much space do you get for your money (not much I found) and what sort of printed materials do prospective customers expect? I'm a sucker for a postcard but are buyers and do they expect free stuff too?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qISTQW2mYvc/UPaJ6Bx2JaI/AAAAAAAABcA/rkPZCdWTDTw/s1600/Screen+shot+2013-01-16+at+11.01.23.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qISTQW2mYvc/UPaJ6Bx2JaI/AAAAAAAABcA/rkPZCdWTDTw/s320/Screen+shot+2013-01-16+at+11.01.23.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I found that there were lot's of creatives like myself there with fairly small stands just handing out business cards and pricelists, and then equally there was the other end of the scale, one stand I particularly liked was Hemingway House. It was a beautiful stand with some very special tiles:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OrbQi1uYIH0/UPaMS7qPimI/AAAAAAAABcw/Ay-uSg28eRU/s1600/tiles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OrbQi1uYIH0/UPaMS7qPimI/AAAAAAAABcw/Ay-uSg28eRU/s200/tiles.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Another eye catching stand was <a href="http://dotsandspots.co.uk/" target="_blank">Dots and Spots</a>, owner and designer Becky
Peabody was absolutely lovely and gave us some samples of her paper,
which I am really interested in for gift wrapping my products.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wsV_qpGXh68/UPaM2hJa5cI/AAAAAAAABc4/NJ7mWo-kcIU/s1600/dotsspots.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wsV_qpGXh68/UPaM2hJa5cI/AAAAAAAABc4/NJ7mWo-kcIU/s320/dotsspots.JPG" width="240" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4LfeqLqPQOc/UPaM40KfGGI/AAAAAAAABdA/2V-yuqHjByM/s1600/Screen+shot+2013-01-16+at+11.01.40.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4LfeqLqPQOc/UPaM40KfGGI/AAAAAAAABdA/2V-yuqHjByM/s200/Screen+shot+2013-01-16+at+11.01.40.png" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
By mid afternoon I was a bit overwhelmed by the bright lights, so decided it was time to head outside for some air, so we spent the next couple of hours wandering around Notting Hill and Portobello Market.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6ij2-HiLnjI/UPaNbvHWaJI/AAAAAAAABdI/IV5dx3Y7nwE/s1600/546804_10151220060032896_1405079719_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6ij2-HiLnjI/UPaNbvHWaJI/AAAAAAAABdI/IV5dx3Y7nwE/s200/546804_10151220060032896_1405079719_n.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RIH2f0_zcPk/UPaNfW9kryI/AAAAAAAABdQ/UG0f6pmPoqw/s1600/download.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RIH2f0_zcPk/UPaNfW9kryI/AAAAAAAABdQ/UG0f6pmPoqw/s200/download.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
We were getting a lateish train home so spent an hour or so pootling around the wonder that is St Pancras station. It really is a beautiful place with some pretty nice shops too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jQAFJ6xU3iI/UPaPWkD8RDI/AAAAAAAABdk/jQ70StCetcM/s1600/stpancra.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jQAFJ6xU3iI/UPaPWkD8RDI/AAAAAAAABdk/jQ70StCetcM/s200/stpancra.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XaqSUxWOF9o/UPaOCqltjgI/AAAAAAAABdY/bYyAdDzJQ4s/s1600/tired.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XaqSUxWOF9o/UPaOCqltjgI/AAAAAAAABdY/bYyAdDzJQ4s/s200/tired.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Then we headed home, extremely tired (although Deanne kept me giggling all the way, even when I nearly gave her a black eye opening my train picnic on the homeward journey).<br />
<br />
Thanks to the super talented <a href="http://deezkatz.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Deanne of Quirky Boots</a> for the pics in this post. We also traveled to the event with seasoned trade fairer and fellow craftsperson <a href="http://wallenvy.co.uk/" target="_blank">Louise Verity of Wall Envy Art.</a><br />

<br />
<br />
I have just had the strangest experience and had to share. If you have just been listening to <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_6music" target="_blank">6 music</a> yes that was me as a participant in The Chain!! For those of you who don't know The Chain is a series of songs that are somehow connected, I connected Mumm-ra (She's got you high) to the Marvelettes (Too many fish in the Sea).<br />
<br />
<b>Here's how I made the link:</b><br />
<br />
Mummra was the bad guy in the 1980's cartoon Thundercats and the Thundercats was made by Marvel comics, so I chose a song by the Marvellettes!<br />
<br />
I was extremely nervous, this sort of thing is way out of my comfort zone but don't think I made too much of a wally of myself, and Chris Hawkins (who I have a not so secret crush on) was very nice so it just felt like a phone call :) <br />
<br />
What a good way to start the new year! Cheers 6 Music, especially Hen (you know why) x Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03020001878922551760noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7618981678850872569.post-44579181174272485072012-12-12T10:02:00.000+00:002012-12-12T10:02:29.305+00:00Jack Frost has been!This morning was a bit of a whirlwind rush, I decided to have a bit
of a lie in, only ten minutes but when I was finally dragged out of bed
by my three year old (neither of us are morning people) I realised I
couldn't leave the house without a shower as my hair was stuck to my
head! Then Eva didn't want to wear the clothes I had picked out for her,
I really wish she hadn't developed her own sense of style at such a
young age.<br />
<br />
Once breakfast, shower and dressing and
drying were all done (within about 12 minutes) we ventured to the car
which was full of frost. I strapped Eva into her seat and starting to
de-ice the car with some pump action de-icer. Once defrosted I got in
the car, to be informed by Eva that she had forgotten her mo-mo (a manky
blanket, she loves and drags everywhere with her - through everything).
So my only option was to go back inside and try to hunt down the Mo-mo,
which sounds simple but as the police have recently warned there have
been some car crime in my road so I couldn't leave the car running. I
locked Eva in the car ran back in the house, where I proceeded to run
around like a headless chicken in search of the mo-mo, of course I
couldn't find it as she also likes to hide her beloved scrap of mank, so
I had to get her a freshly laundered one. I ran back down the stairs to
find that that car had now completely frozen over again, damn you pump
action de-icer!!! I had no choice but to start the de-icing process all over again and
passed Eva the new mo-mo, which she cried about but luckily gave up
after a two minute holler!<br />
<br />
We got to playschool a few minutes late but they're pretty okay about that (just as well).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z0UkpVXdlsc/UMhUo-JviGI/AAAAAAAABXg/V0QrReKiNz0/s1600/cosy_mac.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z0UkpVXdlsc/UMhUo-JviGI/AAAAAAAABXg/V0QrReKiNz0/s400/cosy_mac.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I
returned home to crack on with some Christmas orders and it felt like a
different morning altogether, the sun was coming up and has made all
the frostiness look magical, I made tea and put on my favourite 6 music
on the radio. When I sat down at my desk I spotted these awesome spiders
webs on the balcony. I'm not a massive fan of spiders but these are
beautiful, I took a few minutes to just sit and appreciate them,
sometimes just a few minutes out, 'taking in' the scenery just sets me
up for the day ahead. <br />

<br />
I already had my exposed screen and printing paint, my husband made me a printing bed, I bought the hinges so all in it's probably cost around £100.00 to get set up at home but I will save that money pretty quickly and also I won't be stressing all the way to Leicester about what I have forgotten!!<br />
<br />
I did have a complete squeegee nightmare, I tried to get away with using a cheap version, but it was worse than useless, as I was in a rush I phoned <a href="http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/" target="_blank">Fred Aldous</a> craft supplies extraordinaires, and they were so helpful, they gave me some advice and posted the new squeegee which I received yesterday, meaning I can get the orders all out by the weekend if I get a wriggle on!<br />

<br />
These Scandinavian inspired Christmas trees are just some of the designs I am printing this morning, I literally have 2 hours before I have to collect Eva from playschool, so best dash! <br />

Each letter is personalised with information about each child, including achievements over the past year and even what colour their front door is!<br />
<br />
Every Santa letter is decorated with our own bold design of snowflakes with a
log cabin and a smiling Father Christmas and every letter includes some personal
information about the child, every is letter unique for every child.
The charming handwritten typeface is appealing for older children and
clear for young readers. It is posted directly to the child in a special North Pole envelope.<br />
<br />
If you would like one, you need to be quick, they can be purchased from <a href="http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/evajeanie/product/personalised-christmas-letter-from-santa" target="_blank">my not on the high street.com shop here. </a><br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xyZZkRXlGuY/UJzkkhtjuDI/AAAAAAAABT0/M0vVDzHekXE/s1600/threads.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xyZZkRXlGuY/UJzkkhtjuDI/AAAAAAAABT0/M0vVDzHekXE/s640/threads.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I'm not sure what's happened to me, I have always thought of myself as a bit of a messy person but I am becoming increasingly aware that I must have changed. Since setting up as a freelance designer seven years ago I have noticed that I am far neater and like things to be tidied away and I even like things to be clean! A far cry from my student digs where I didn't hoover for one whole year!!<br />
<br />
I am a bit worried that I might be turning into a neat freak. I have recently moved into my new studio which is palatial in comparison to my old box room, but it has somehow turned me into the world's tidiest person. I have bought some new storage to help me keep things nice and neat. The first piece is an old printer tray that I bought for my coloured threads, initially I had just put the spools into the gaps any old how, but looking at them every day was driving me nuts so I have now rearranged them by colour and I feel so much better about them (am I nuts).<br />
<br />
As I have a large range of products in <a href="http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/partners/evajeanie/products" target="_blank">my shop</a>, many of which are screen printed, I needed somewhere to keep half finished products (things that have been printed or stitched but not yet assembled). I found this set of drawers last week in IKEA - yes I braved IKEA during half term and discovered the wonder that is Småll land, I left Eva happily playing for 50 minutes so I could go on the serious business of storage hunting.<br />
<br />
I found these beauties:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j8dYh0cd9G4/UJzlqAz2rpI/AAAAAAAABT8/r34DFmk7y2g/s1600/download2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-j8dYh0cd9G4/UJzlqAz2rpI/AAAAAAAABT8/r34DFmk7y2g/s640/download2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
They are perfect for my needs, lots of shallow drawers and space on top for my printer, they were very heavy though so I had to ask for help in getting them to the car. The only small problem I had was that my husband (a furniture designer) hates them, but I think he is warming to the idea slightly now as I have somewhere to keep half finished projects and orders.<br />
<br />
I love them, I don't even have every drawer full at the moment which is great, as I can grow into them!<br />
<br />
A great place to store finished.... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-niyWD-_baCc/UJzmXXDf-xI/AAAAAAAABUE/i6P0W8hq548/s1600/download3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-niyWD-_baCc/UJzmXXDf-xI/AAAAAAAABUE/i6P0W8hq548/s640/download3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
and half finished products... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2OA-1xsBF1k/UJzmZ8Z84_I/AAAAAAAABUM/6zFeBx93FtA/s1600/download4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2OA-1xsBF1k/UJzmZ8Z84_I/AAAAAAAABUM/6zFeBx93FtA/s200/download4.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bMwXrrX9MHE/UJzmhX0OY5I/AAAAAAAABUU/2CYEkAIyM9g/s1600/download.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bMwXrrX9MHE/UJzmhX0OY5I/AAAAAAAABUU/2CYEkAIyM9g/s200/download.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
The white liners of the drawers are also a good place to photograph small items.<br />
<br />
