The weekend got off to a super start, with a sale! Then I had a lovely day in Leicester with Mr Squarepearfurniture we had a fab lunch and I was let loose on the fabric, got a lovely little stash, what shall I make? Erm bunting probably, or possibly a tea cosy (or six).
I always feel creatively inspired after visiting Leicester it's such a diverse and culturally rich place and now I can go on the train from the bottom of my road - yipee! Although today we drove :(

Finally Live!
My shop has finally been activated on notonthehighstreet it has been a lot of hard work and quite a hefty initial outlay, but all the signs are there to say it was worth it as I have had a sale already, for one of my carrier bag holders, to say I am a little excited in an understatement, as I only went live at 5pm yesterday, so first sale within the first 12 hours!
What an excellent start to a Saturday morning.

Also...forgot to say
I am the featured handmade seller on frooly.com these guys have been really good and I have had lots of sale through them, it's only £1.00 to join and I would really recommend it.
This week so far...
It's been busy week so far, I have decided to sell my handcrafted goods on notonthehighstreet.com and have spent quite a lot of time fine tuning my descriptions and photo's. I am waiting to hear their feedback and hopefully will be up and running very soon.
I really struggled to photograph my carrier bag holders are they are long and thin, I couldn't seem to get a good enough angle, but noths showed me some examples that might help my composition and I decided as I need the overall images to be square, the best option would be to photograph three or four bags together, I'm really pleased with these new photo's although I expect I'll change them again soon.

Vintage finds
I went to a brilliant shop in Northampton last week called the most marvellous place to shop it has a really good mix of vintage and handmade goods, and has a lovely cafe serving cream teas, breakfasts and lunches. If you are lucky enough to go when they are are having a yard sale they have a BBQ set up too, it was a pretty awesome day!

Reduce, reuse, recycle
I'm not always as envrionmentally friendly as I could be, but I do try to do my bit. My new design for carrier bag holders adds a bit of fun to a pretty mundane subject, hope you think so too :)
They are available from my folksy shop and available in a range of fabric, most of which are vintage (recycled!)

Personalised Poppy Wren bunting
I really enjoy making personalised items for people and one product I get asked to make a lot is personalised bunting. This one was made for a little girl called Poppy Wren.
The full name was too long for bunting that would eventually be displayed in a bedroom so we decided to use Poppy for the lettered flags and come up with a design of a poppy and a wren combined for the end motifs flags.
I'm really happy with how it has worked out and that I have made a completely unique gift.

New iphone, so expect photo's
Just got an iphone. It's been a week of embracing technology for me. For ages I have avoided Twitter and getting a blog, but can see that I am going to need these tools to promote my handmade work so I had better just get on with it, and now (to prove I am serious) I have an iphone too, the only thing I seem to be able to do with much success is take photo's so you can expect lots of these from me. That is until I get to grips with the other functions (not gonna happen).

My New Blog
I have finally given in. It is time to start a blog.
Apparently in this modern age it's not good enough to just be good at what you do in order to create sales, you have to blether on about it on the web too, for everyone to read, well I am quite up for a bit of blethering, so here goes, this is my first post, hopefully the first of many. I will try and keep up do date with lots of interesting makes and how to's but other than that it'll be mostly waffle :)
